My Favorite Places in Quebec City to Visit

Quebec City is by far my favourite get away from Montreal but for some reason I feel like a lot of people take it for granted. After spending over there months in Europe I went through a bit of withdrawal and needed a “pick me up”. When my husband “ The Pilot” informed me that he was flying to Quebec City and would have a 24hr layover I volunteered to meet him there to keep him company. I am lucky enough to know Quebec City pretty well because of the time I spent there with many friends but throughout my tripe there and the comments and inquires I received it became clear that I should share the tope TO DO things in Quebec for you all. Enjoy and I cannot wait to hear about all of your travels to this beautiful city as well.

Old Quebec

Walk along the fortified walls surrounding this UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire the view from many different vantage points. Visit various notable historical sites, such as Petit-Champlain District, Place Royale, the Plains of Abraham and the Parliament Building. As you stroll along the Dufferin Terrace, be sure to take a picture of world-famous Château Frontenac, the most photographed hotel on the planet!

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency

Located a mere 15 minutes from Old Québec, Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a spectacular historic site. Its 83-metre-high waterfall dominates the landscape. During a visit, you can get close to it in a number of different ways and feel all its might.

Terrasse Dufferin

Two million people a year stroll along this boardwalk named for Lord Dufferin, a governor general of Canada who fell madly in love with Québec. For many years this extraordinary site was the exclusive haunt of a privileged few. But after its public inauguration in 1838, the boardwalk was such a hit with Quebecers and tourists alike that it had to be extended twice.

Place Royale

A visit to Place-Royale is like a step back in time to the early days of New France. It was here that Samuel de Champlain founded his “abitation” in 1608.

Admire historic Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, the oldest stone church in North America (1688). And don't miss the immense fresque des Québécois, which retraces 400 years of the city's history.

Plains of Abraham

The Plains of Abraham is a historic area within The Battlefields Park in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The land is the site of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which took place on 13 September 1759, but hundreds of acres of the fields became used for grazing, housing, and minor industrial structures.
